TAL TORAH is unique: A Torah learning center in Jerusalem for women and girls seeking to educate the heart as well as the mind. We invite women of all ages and religious backgrounds to explore their Jewish heritage, strengthen their Jewish identities and enter the dialogue with classical Jewish texts that has sustained our people from generation to generation. All classes are small, intimate groups that encourage each woman to discover her own questions and find her voice among the chorus of voices that is the Jewish people.

The Talmud states that before the destruction of the second Temple, students stood for Torah study just as we all stood at Sinai when Torah came into the world. Study was akin to revelation. There was a feeling of awe surrounding the activity of learning. That transmission of awe from the “experience of Sinai” is at the heart of TAL TORAH’s approach to learning and discovery – both for our students and in the ongoing development of our teachers.
As the cultural and spiritual heritage of our people, Torah has the power to inform and transform our lives, revealing how we can make connections to ourselves, to others and to God. Coming into contact with generations of our people across national borders that have also wrestled with these same texts and asked our same questions, we get a glimpse of how our individual paths are part of a much vaster design. Together, we experience how words of Torah resonate in our hearts and inspire a commitment to the Jewish people, the land of Israel and Tikkun Olam. |
