“There is a sense in the nexus of everything coming together in the center of the world, in Yerushalayim. It is both the understanding that one’s children are with joy both studying Torah and speaking Torah as women, and that they are doing it in Yerushalayim, a place where all our families and friends come together in this tabor haolam. It is a moment of just pure joy. There is nothing restrained or artificial about it. In that sense, it is one of the most natural things that should happen. It couldn’t happen in any other way.”
TAL TORAH finds its roots deep in the heart of home and family, one of the sanctuaries of Judaism. Ariel Lester Ben Moshe began teaching Torah to women and preparing their daughters for Bat Mitzvah around her dining room table, but the room soon became too small to accommodate the numbers of students knocking at her door. Seven years, three locations and over 250 Bnot Mitzvah later, TAL TORAH has grown into a unique center for Torah learning that is making an impact on the quality of Bat Mitzvah education in Jerusalem, while pioneering an intergenerational approach to Torah learning for women and girls of all ages.
In response to TAL TORAH's family approach to Jewish learning, parents have requested that we expand our unique educational vision to include teaching Bar Mitzvah students. We have helped more than fifty boys and their families to prepare for Bar Mitzvah and each year more young men come to TAL TORAH to prepare themselves to take their place amongst the historic and eternal Jewish people. TAL TORAH's Bar Mitzvah program is open to boys and families from diverse Jewish backgrounds and all streams of religious observance.
