"As an infant grows within its mother's womb, so did the world come into existence."

~Midrash Tanchuma

"Blessing resides in that which is hidden from sight."

~Bava Batra 42a

The Torah is enlightening in its profound understanding of this special time.  Through Torah sources, we will explore the world inside the womb as we connect with the mystery of new life.  We will consider the effect we have on the life growing within us and how pregnancy prepares us for motherhood.  We will learn about the awesomeness of birth, preparing ourselves for this most meaningful of experiences.  Creation, Light, Freedom and Covenant are just some of the themes we will be exploring as we experience the transformation of woman into mother, fetus into baby and couple into family.   Woven into the learning will be the insight of a psychologist and the expertise of a birth coach.

"There were two levels to the learning.  First there was the Torah perspective and reflecting on the meaning of the beautiful texts.  Second, there was the personal level and getting to share my experience with other pregnant women.  It was lovely to express ourselves in writing and in conversation.  The sources were beautiful and personal."

"This was the space I set aside to reflect on pregnancy, on being pregnant and becoming a mother.  It was fabulous!  I enjoyed the spectrum of opinions and perspectives expressed in the discussions.  It was evident throughout how much care went into the formation of the classes.  The teacher gently guided us in our conversations and I loved it."

"I looked forward to every class, despite the drive and the hitchhiking.  I liked the group forum and the conversations were great.  We gained a text-based understanding of what we are going through.  It was very enlightening, sometimes challenging.  It was comfortable to share with the group and also not to share.  The teacher created a safe and nurturing space which we all appreciated."
